Doran Sanchez has been named chief of communications for Nevada by the Bureau of Land Management. He succeeds Jo Simpson, who retired this year.
Sanchez previously worked since 1990 as the public affairs specialist for the BLM’s California Desert District.
A Navy veteran, he earned two degrees in journalism in Texas. His professional experience includes six years as a reporter, editor and photojournalist and three years as a regional marketing director.
This weekend camp event is for girls ages 10 to 14 from low-income communities in Northern Nevada and will focus on energy, sustainability, science and technology, engineering and math, as well as leadership development, communication, collaboration and problem solving.
