LED installation cuts casinos’ costs
Energy-efficient LED lighting installed in the parking lots at the Peppermill in Reno and Western Village in Sparks may save the casinos more than $100,000 annually on their electric bills.
The properties received incentives totaling $92,476 from NV Energy’s Sure Bet Program to help pay for the installation.
Western Village officials said the property has saved between 85 to 90 percent on parking lot energy costs, based on their last monthly billing.
“Unfortunately, once developers show up, history disappears and that’s what’s happening to Harrah’s Reno. Like the historic 1875 Adele’s building in Carson City, Bill Harrah’s crown jewel will disappear into the dustbin of history.”
